Glengarry Bhoys
Described as bold, unorthodox, vibrant and evocative, the GLENGARRY BHOYS hybrid of Canadian Highland Scots and French Canadian musical idioms has evolved into a sound that is weighty, authoritative and extremely entertaining.
Their energy and good humor, as much a part of the show as their musicianship, crosses all cultures and ages.
Many things have been written and reported about this world renown Canadian alt-celt group over the last decade, all depicting their musical and entertaining prowess with varied audiences the world over, but their ability to marshal large enthusiastic audiences show after show is legion and recognized.
Their objective is simple yet evocative, as stated by their lead singer Graham Wright in a CBC "Fresh Air" interview; "if our audience can only get 10% of the satisfaction we get entertaining them, then we surpass our objective" accordingly and repeatedly, they do!
From a small Scots-French-Canadian enclave in Eastern Ontario, these Celtic-Stompers, always push the musical envelop but never stray too far from the traditional whence they came, have earned a reputation as entertainers that challenge you to sit still during their engaging performances.
The Kreelers
The Kreellers are a high energy Celtic Rock group hailing from Detroit, Michigan. This four-piece powerhouse has been unstoppable, performing over 100 shows in 2009, recording the music for Fuji's Enviromax Battery ad campaign, and writing and recording new tunes for their upcoming CD. Still steeped in traditional Irish sound, the band's mix of rock, funk, and even punk elements has created a sound that has won over fans, critics, and even skeptics throughout the North and Midwest and has made them one of the most sought after Celtic acts in the region.
Blaggards
Blaggards (no "the", pronounced BLA' GUARDS or BLA' GHERDS, depending on where you're from) formed July 2004 in Houston, Texas. They play what we call Stout Celtic Rock, traditional celtic music mixed with rock n' roll, informed by everything from Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley to Thin Lizzy and Black Sabbath. We are most frequently compared to bands like Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, and the Pogues. Blaggards have toured the East Coast several times, along with visits to Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. They look forward to playing at the St. Andrew's Society of Detroit Highland Games.
Carl Peterson
A performance by Carl Peterson, whether for a few thousand people or for a few dozen, is best described as a warm, everyone-involved, familiar evening-at-home experience. And home is where Carl Peterson was first introduced to music and song. He learned the traditional songs of Scotland, Ireland, and England, as well as contemporary music of the times, from family and friends alike. After learning to play guitar and banjo, Carl added American folk songs and storytelling to his repertoire, and took it all from Scotland to Canada, then later to America, via radio and television.
