St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit is excited to invite your clan to participate in the oldest continuous Highland Games in North America. Our 177th Annual Highland Games will be held again at Greenmead Historical Park in Livonia, Michigan, on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Scotland has a rich and diverse history and cultural traditions. A key part of this history is the clan system, which gave Scots a strong sense of identity and heritage. Clans were origially tribal groups in the Scottish Highlands, but similar systems also existed in Ireland and along the Scottish borders. Over time, the border clans were dissolved while the Highland clan system remained strong until the mid-18th century. Because of its romantic image and its impact, the clan system has become an important subject of historical and cultural interest

Created by Steve Nesbitt, as a lasting tribute to his father and grandfather. celebrating their legacy of strong family values, and the importance of clan and heritage.
Having discovered their Scottish ancestry about 30 years ago, the family has been reconnecting with their roots and passing importance of clan heritage and community, ensuring their family legacy continues while supporting Scottish culture for generations to come.
